2 things I know about you.

There are two things I know about you:

  1. You are capable of more than you think.
  2. It will take more work than you think.

I know the first one because this has been true of everyone I’ve ever met. We are the worst judges of what we are capable of. Everyone I’ve met had another gear, a deeper level, a bigger goal than they knew initially.

I know the second one because anything worth having takes hustling. Books aren’t easy. Businesses aren’t easy. Diets aren’t easy.

The good stuff is always the hard stuff.

But, that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun.

Writing “The end” on a book you finished is fun.

Crossing the finish line at a race is fun.

Throwing away the last bag of clutter from your house is fun.

I don’t like most self help books because they over stress how capable you are and under stress how much you’ll have to work. They fill your head with promises that the universe will conspire to help you and rainbows will anoint you if you only believe and unicorns will laugh jelly beans directly into your mouth. Nonsense.

I don’t like most business books because they spend too much time talking about how much work it will take to accomplish anything. They’re heavy on the practical and low on the inspirational. There’s no hope to fuel you through the pain of the process.

You’ve got to have both or your goal will flat line on the table.

The 30 Days of Hustle Challenge does and sign up ends in less than 72 hours. Not only is it 30 days of awesome video content from me, it’s also time proven, results based and backed with a full money back guarantee.

You’re capable of more than you think.

It’s going to take more work than you think.

If you’re ready to hustle on both, sign up today.

Thank you for being consistent in your encouragement and in your enthusiasm. I read “Do Over” as we were in the midst of praying about leaving the mission field and gave it to my husband as we realized that we would, in fact, have to leave the place we had devoted 17 years of our life to. Starting over a country that is supposed to be ‘ours’ but doesn’t look remotely familiar has certainly been an eye-opener. While I can’t join your work group this year, I will be working on my own 30 day challenge. Thank you for taking that deep breath and jumping into a better future. We hope to join you.
    Blessings

I agree about your thoughts on self help books! You can DO ANYTHING!!!!!

But…they forget that other “small” part…oh yeah you’ll have to work tirelessly for it! And fail a lot. And work on weekends and Holidays and say no to fun stuff so you can say yes to your dream! That’s not as sexy. That doesn’t sell! But it’s true!

I know you’re friends with Brian Koppelman. I’m a huge fan. I can only imagine the hours (hundreds, thousands?) they spent creating Billions (and even now putting in 70 hour week). But on the outside it just “happened!” Like magic!

    Nah, lots of work!

Sometimes, it sounds more easy to say the big things you want to do or accomplish. Often times we’re brave enough to start doing them, then we realize how difficult or enormous the challenge or goal before us is. But one thing I have discovered is to stay focused and resolute knowing that if we are determined, focused and ready to put in the work, we’ll eventually get a breakthrough and achieve that goal. But you have to realize that it does not happen overnight in most situations. You have remain, focused determined, and keep encouraging yourself in the face of discouragement, if you persevere you’ll overcome.

Great reminder, Jon. And I love the verse in Ephesians that states “You can do more than you think or even imagine by the power at work within you.” A good summary of what you are saying, and don’t miss the “power at work within you” part. It is already there. You CAN do more than you think! You CAN accomplish more than you can even imagine! All you need to do is tap that power.

    Powerful message, Jon. Thanks!

I concur about your contemplations on self improvement guides! You can DO ANYTHING. great rundown of what you are stating, and don’t miss the “force at work inside you” part. It is as of now there. You CAN accomplish more than you might suspect! You CAN achieve more than you can even envision! You should simply tap that force.
