It’s not too late to make 2014 awesome.

September is almost in the books.

Though it’s hard to believe, fall is here and 2014 is quickly slipping through our fingers. In times like this, fear is going to get loud and tell you one big lie:

“It’s too late to do something meaningful this year.”

The year feels done, as if there’s absolutely no time left. Best to leave our dreams and hustle until January. We should just wait for 2015 to get here since there’s so little time left in 2014.

I say the opposite.

I say it’s time to rally.

The year is not over. It’s not even close to over. We still have 25% left! Sure, we’ve burned through almost 75% but that’s not the same as 100%. Imagine if you came up with a 75 on a test and told your parents, “Don’t worry mom and dad, that’s almost 100!” How would the rest of that conversation go for you?

The year isn’t over.

It’s not too late.

It’s time to rally!

Get out the goals you made last January. If you didn’t make any, just get out a blank piece of paper. I don’t care if you failed every attempt at working on a dream the first 9 months of 2014. Those months are done. Those are in the past. You and I have a lot of year left.

Don’t quit just because the year feels over. It’s not time to give up, it’s time to rally!

What’s one thing you are going to rally on the rest of the year?

For me, I just need to remain consistent on writing out my story so I can edit and publish. Writing is more work than I imagined and blogging is even harder. I am thoroughly enjoying the process though. All the support I have received had been amazing and is pushing me forward.

I’m focusing on my writing the rest of this year. 2014 has been amazing so far. I’ve been able to help start a new church, get laid off, and now I get paid (a little) to write. God knows my dreams, and what He has planned for me, and has been amazing (no surprise there). He’s answered so many prayers in so many cool ways.

There is a gym opening up 1 mile from my house in January. When I signed up they gave me the option to start getting billed in January or I could go to another location until my gym opens. This week I start strength training for the first time ever, and I’m beginning rebooting my whole foods only diet. I figure… why wait till January when I can start now?

I am glad you pointed this out Jon! I am working on a lot of things including a book that I want to finish up. There is still time to complete things in 2014 we just need to get on our horse and go. We can’t get to fall and cruise into 2015, let’s make it happen!

Figuring out what God really wants me to do next now that my book is done. Like you’ve said, everyone else is “monetizing everything” coaching! Online course! Webinars! Ebooks! and as much as I could use extra income, it’s more important that I stay in my sweet spot, which is speaking.

I’m going to focus on getting the 1st draft of my book to my editor and posting on my blog more often.

Love your perspective, Jon! I always take things in quarters — and my next 13 weeks starts today!

    For the next 13 weeks:
    – I’m going to rally on my brand new website and first-ever blog, created in the memory of my sweet brother who died too fast and too soon just three weeks ago.
    – I’m going to finish and ship another script.
    – I’m going to systematically work through my house to free myself of years of clutter that is holding me back!

Those are my top three right now…thanks for the reminder to FINISH STRONG, Jon!

Working on a few products that work hand-in-hand with my book. Especially a 2015 planner. I think I’ll be doing more in the last few months of the year than I did in the first 9 combined!

Thanks for this post..I’m the type that gives up too soon…you read my mind. There were some things I was going to put off. Not now. Thanks!

I’m working on my fitness, especially running. I’m planning to run 2 half marathons in the early part of 2015 (probably around February or March). My goal is to cut my race time by 30 minutes, so I gotta hustle on improving my speed. The holiday season is fast approaching and this is usually the time when people slack off on their health and fitness goals, rationalizing that they’ll just “start in January”. Not for me, I’m going to run more miles these last 3 months of the year than I’ve done the first 9 months.

My thoughts in regards to this are simple. Why do we limit ourselves to doing something within the calendar year? 25% of the rest of the year, sure, but also 100% of the rest of your life. Days go on after the calendar year is over and we start over.

It really encouraged me to think of the year as having 25% of it left. There is a whole quarter to be played! Thanks Jon!!!
