Imagine you’re 19 years old.

You’re ranked #144 in the world in tennis.

You’re playing the #1 ranked played in the world.

At Wimbledon.

Think that might be a lot of pressure?

Probably. So how do you break it? How do you burst that tight bubble of perfection that can often ruin a performance?

You have some fun. Some risky, silly, fun.

You do what Nick Kyrgios did yesterday while playing against Nadal. Was it showboating? Maybe insulting to Nadal? Depends on how you look at it. I see it as a direct attack on the pressure of performance, that seriousness that settles in like a fog, threatening to suck the life out of something we’re trying to achieve.

Don’t take yourself too seriously. Chasing a dream should be fun.
